HELP KIDS READ

I don’t normally post about the same things twice in a week; however, this is a special occasion. :-)

Amber West did an Authors Give Back guest post for me this past Tuesday. (She totally rocks, btw!) She talked about her Go Without Campaign where you give up something for a short while in order to donate the monies to a charity. It’s a wonderful concept. She also highlighted a couple of charities that help out kids who don’t have resources for books. One of those is Kids Need to Read.

After that post, Amber decided to very generously give the proceeds from her book sales for January to that wonderful charity. Want a great book and a way to help out kids? Buy Amber’s book, THE RUTH VALLEY MISSING this month.

You can buy the book at Amazon.

Want to know more about the Go Without Campaign and Kids Need to Read? Check out Amber’s Guest Post and see what she’s asking authors and others to do for the month of January.

Thank you for your generous spirit, Amber! You’re an inspiration!

Thank you to my readers as well. I know from previous posts and comments you all have generous spirits, too. Have any of you thought about joining in Amber’s campaign for this month and helping kids’ reading resources? If so, how do you plan to help?

As always – thanks for reading!

Having done this in December with one of my books for an animal shelter and raising close to $6000, I totally appreciate Amber’s generous offer! I got my copy of the book and hope others do, too.

Absolutely! I was President of my local Friends of the Library for two years and have a close relationship with the head librarian. She’s very supportive of local authors as well. The library is an excellent place to volunteer time and ideas.

Wow,Stacy! My book won’t be reaching those kinds of numbers, but it would be awesome if it did! That’s so great you were able to raise that much for a worthy cause!

Bill, as soon as circumstances allow it, I want to start volunteering to read at my local library. I LOVED getting to read my favorites to my students when I taught, and would love to continue that with other kids!
