A Free Zombie Short & More!

posted in: Uncategorized | 4

My writing, like my reading and my life, is a little eclectic. So I have a few things to tell you about from my SURVIVAL zombie world and my everything else world. 🙂 Read below for a free short based on my SURVIVAL series

Most importantly, I’m trying to raise money for a local charitable organization that assisted many of my clients when I worked in the social work field. They always went above and beyond. And I’m asking for your help. How can you help me help them? Easy! Just buy an eCopy of THE GIFT for only 99 cents (for yourself, a friend, and/or a loved one) between now and December 30th and I’ll give half of the royalties to the Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County. Click the image to find places to buy THE GIFT. Another HUGE way you can help is by sharing this post (or this one that is UGM specific) to help me spread the word. I would be very very grateful!

The Gift, family, holiday, ebook

THE GIFT is a heartwarming family holiday short story about love and second chances. And it has a cute kid in it! 😉  It would make a great gift for anyone on your list.

Coming Up!

I have two audio books that should be ready for the holiday season. THE GIFT and SURVIVAL. I’ll post links as soon as they’re available. In the meantime, here are their covers. I’m so excited!

Zombie Stuff

Guest Posts and Interviews: I’m also participating in the #WinterOfZombie Event with nearly 50 other authors. Some of my absolute favorites are among those taking part. You can join the event on Facebook so you don’t miss out on any of the great interviews, guest posts, giveaways, and other fun.

In the meantime, I’ve had one spotlight post (introduces me and my SURVIVAL series) at Dying Days and two guest blog posts:

SURVIVAL: SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE WE MAY NEED WHEN THE ZOMBIE SHTF (Are you prepared for the apocalypse? Do you have skills to help you to survive and to barter for things you need?)

SURVIVAL: BUG OUT BAG (Do you have a bug out bag and know what to put in it? Did I leave off one of your “must have” items?)

I also had an interview at Books, Beer, and Blogshit. Very cool questions. I talked about the future, sex, and hope during an apocalypse. Is there any?

I received a nice review from BiAl’s Books and Pals. BigAl had this to say: “What set this apart for me were the other elements. First, Sarah rescuing her twin, which is the main story conflict with the zombies just one more thing getting in the way of resolving that problem. Second, Sarah’s relationship with her coworker Merideth and how that changes as they come to understand each other better. Not your typical zombie story at all.”

Free Short Story

Okay, so now how about that FREE short story? I wrote SURVIVAL: JENNY’S STORY (click that link to go to the story) as a writing prompt. The challenge was to write the whole story in dialogue and see if you could convey what’s happening directly and indirectly without adding in any description. It was a challenge. I think I did okay, but the real test is what you think! I’d love to hear your thoughts. Just post them in the comment section of this post or send me an email. I’ll be making the story page private at the end of the month, so I hope you have the time to enjoy it now. 🙂

See lots going on! I’m going to try to get a paperback edition of THE GIFT out by Christmas, but no promises. I’ll let you know if I get it done! 🙂

I hope all of you who celebrate it have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I am grateful for all of you. I’m grateful for my family and friends. And I’m grateful that I live in a country where I can pursue my passion for writing without censorship. Tell me in the comments what you’re grateful for this year.

As always — thanks for reading!

Hey Mike! Thanks for stopping by. It was a fun interview. 🙂 And this is my first time out doing audiobooks, so I’m learning a lot. I think they’re sounding great and can’t wait to hear the finished product. Have a great Thanksgiving! 🙂

Thank you! It was a challenge. I had to keep going back and making sure POV was clear and that the dialogue stayed true while also giving some description of what was going on. It was fun and educational. If you give it a try, let me know. I’d love to read it. 🙂
