Okay, so here’s the unofficial version…
I’ve been reading since I was four. I read all the Nancy Drew Mysteries my library offered and promptly moved on to Stephen King. I really enjoy escaping into other worlds and exploring the unknown. So much so that I often got in trouble for reading under the covers with the flashlight at night. I still read every night and have read just about every genre, but my consistent favorites are horror, paranormal, fantasy, and sci-fi. That goes for my movie choices as well. Yep. I’m a proud nerd.
I knew I loved writing after I created a short story in third grade for a class assignment. My mom still has a copy of How the Raccoon Got His Mask. I wrote off and on for my own pleasure, but I eventually stopped for a long while. Just not a lot of time then for extras. But, a friend encouraged me to start again and that was the beginning of my publishing career. I entered a few contests before I actually published just to make sure that my work was something others might enjoy. After winning and placing in several contests, I decided to give publishing a try. I’m so glad I did.
I live in a small town in Texas on five acres with cows, chickens, a dog (Ratatouille – don’t ask me, my niece named her!), and a cat (Katarina). We also have our share of wildlife (coyotes, foxes, possums, and skunks – pew!) that makes an appearance from time to time. But, I also live just a few miles from Fort Worth, so I feel like I have the best of both worlds – a peaceful small town within minutes of a big city.
Before I began publishing my books, I was an investigator for twenty years for the state and the family courts. I met all kinds of people and loved the interactions with folks from all walks of life. Sometimes things got a little (or occasionally a lot) scary. But there were humorous times, too. Oh, the stories I could tell… Oh, right – I do!
